I. Policy Statement 

Advertisements for vacant classified positions at The University of Texas at Austin (“University”) shall be handled by Human Resources.

II. Reason for Policy 

This policy provides guidelines for the placement of advertising for recruitment of classified positions.

Payment for advertising for recruitment purposes is considered to be a legal expenditure of funds and the proper claims will be paid by the State Comptroller.


Human Resources is responsible for placing all advertisements for vacant University classified positions. Departments should not place their own advertisements. Human Resources will work with departments concerning appropriate advertising.


The payment of the publisher's bill is the responsibility of the department requesting the ad.
