Beginning Rates for Classified Employees

I. Policy Statement 

The University of Texas at Austin (“University”) shall normally use the minimum rate of pay for a class as the beginning rate of pay for classified position appointments.

II. Reason for Policy 

To provide a procedure for classified appointments above the minimum rate.

VII. Responsibilities & Procedures 

The minimum rates of pay for a class shall normally be paid upon appointment to the class. Original employment at a salary above the minimum rate may be approved by the Associate Vice President for Human Resources upon certification by the relevant administrative officer that such action is justified by exceptional qualifications of the applicant, or by reason of lack of qualified applicants at the minimum rate.
