I. Policy Statement 

It is the policy of The University of Texas at Austin (“University”) that no one under the age of 15 years may be employed at the University.

To provide guidelines for the hiring of employees in accordance with federal and state law.

It should be noted there are restrictions pertaining to anyone under the age of 18 employed in occupations other than clerical since there are child labor laws concerning hazardous occupations. There are also restrictions governing total hours worked during school sessions for persons under the age of 16. In either case, Human Resource Services should be consulted concerning applicable regulations.
